We met June 2010 when Paul started a USA/Europe backpacking trip from Australia. He landed in Portland, OR only to find that his friend and backpacking buddy had left for New York without him a few days earlier.
Paul called a mutual friend of ours who lives in Seattle to see if he could stay a few days while he figured out what to do about his travel plans. Our mutual friend introduced us and immediately hit it off. We spent the next five together and stayed in touch for 9 months before I went to Australia for two weeks to visit.
Paul returned from Australia with me and stayed in Seattle for just less than a year before heading back home. I followed him to Australia a month after he left the Seattle area where I stayed for just over a year. In that time, Paul proposed in the backyard of our small house in Byron Bay, NSW Australia. He made a big breakfast, decked out our back yard and asked me to be with him forever over a plate of French toast. Of course I said yes and we began to plan our Seattle wedding from afar.
